[…] HYDERABAD: The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) will organise a 2-km night walk at People’s Plaza, Necklace Road, on October 1 as part of Cybersecurity Awareness Month. The walk, titled “Cyber Security Flash – Pause for Safety”, will begin at 17.00 IST.

Light up against cyber fraud”, TGCSB has invited students, young people, families, professionals, senior citizens and community groups to participate. Participants have been encouraged to carry their mobile phones and switch on their flashlights during the walk. The collective display of light is intended to symbolise awareness and vigilance against cyber fraud.

The campaign carries the message: “PAUSE. THINK. VERIFY.” TGCSB said cyber fraudsters often create a sense of urgency through calls, messages, suspicious links, fake customer-care numbers and other deceptive communications.

The campaign encourages people to pause, verify the source and think carefully before clicking links, sharing information or making payments. Awareness activities planned across Telangana through October The month-long campaign will include cyber awareness sessions, skits, street plays, poster exhibitions, pledge programmes, quizzes, competitions, public outreach programmes and social-media campaigns. TGCSB also plans to deploy Kalabrindam personnel for awareness activities and display cyber safety posters in local supermarkets.

The campaign will culminate on October 31 with Cyber Security Flash walks across Telangana districts. The respective Superintendents of Police (SPs) will flag off the walks in their districts. TGCSB said simultaneous participation at the district level would reinforce the message that cyber safety is a shared responsibility and extend the campaign to communities across the state.

Registrations for the Hyderabad walk are open through the official TGCSB website. Citizens have been urged to register in advance and participate in the launch of Cybersecurity Awareness Month. TGCSB also urged people who become victims of financial cyber fraud to immediately call the National Cyber Crime Helpline at 1930 and report the incident promptly.
