Recent phishing attacks analysed by Barracuda Research found attackers combining two sets of tactics in a single email: social engineering aimed at the human recipient and prompt injection attacks designed to influence their AI-powered email assistants.
Summary
The findings are published in a new report. The ‘dual-target’ emails have multiple layers of content.

KazaSec's take
Phishing and credential-based attacks succeed because they target people, not just infrastructure, technical controls like SPF, DKIM, and DMARC only ever close part of that gap. The rest comes down to whether a team can actually spot the fake, and whether a compromised credential can still be reused anywhere else.
