Researchers have discovered a new malware named CLOSEDQUORUM that utilizes AI models for decision-making.
Summary
This sophisticated program targets Windows systems and aims to steal sensitive information, including login credentials. The malware can simultaneously engage up to four AI services, allowing it to operate independently. Cisco Talos has created a framework to monitor such AI-integrated malware effectively.
As AI becomes more entrenched in cybercrime, it enhances attackers' operational capabilities and effectiveness.
KazaSec's take
AI-related security incidents are a genuinely new category — prompt injection, model manipulation, and data leakage through an LLM integration don't map cleanly onto traditional application security testing, and are worth assessing deliberately rather than assuming existing controls already cover them.
